Membership Services
The U.S. Industry Coalition provides member firms with technology commercialization services and information and with an array of outreach and networking opportunities. There are two main categories of membership: General Membership and GIPP Membership. USIC also offers an Associate Membership category.
General Membership services:
- Collaborative opportunities with USIC member firms.
- Technology matching with potential commercial development sources.*
- Project development assistance: i.e. identifying technologies for potential projects, help in identifying partners for specific projects.*
- Assistance in identifying potential sources of project financing.*
- Assistance in navigating project funding mechanisms and intellectual property agreements.
- Opportunities with selected U.S. Government agencies and programs.
* Services in these areas are offered on a limited basis as a part of the annual General Membership dues. Service above basic levels may be available on a fee-for-service basis. Details are spelled out in the General Membership agreement.
GIPP Membership services:
- Eligibility for participation in the Department of Energy’s Global Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention (GIPP) Program.
- Assistance in identifying GIPP project opportunities and facilitating partnerships with DOE National Laboratories and foreign institutes.
- Project support and evaluation of GIPP member projects for commercial potential
- Advocacy for members as their GIPP projects proceed through the GIPP review process.
- Help in preparing Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA’s) for member firms partnering with DOE National Laboratories.
- Advice and assistance in meeting GIPP program requirements on cost-share contributions and other contractual obligations.
- Technology commercialization support and assistance in identifying new commercialization opportunities.
- Intellectual property advice and referral information.
Services available to both General and GIPP members:
- Promotion of technology successes to other USIC companies, the U.S. Congress, the business community and government agencies.
- Participation in briefings and special events showcasing USIC member projects and technologies.
- Access to USIC’s developing project and technology project database.
- Advocacy in Washington, DC and monitoring of congressional policy development impacting the funding and oversight of USIC members’ projects.
- Bi-monthly e-newsletter providing information on commercialization projects and activities of interest to USIC members
- Participation in the USIC Annual Meeting featuring seminars on key topics in technology commercialization, updates from Capitol Hill and panel presentations from national lab representatives and successful USIC companies.
- Use of USIC office facilities for member companies when traveling to Washington, DC.
- Additional services including locating investment capital, business planning and market research on a fee-for-service basis.
Associate Member Services
Individuals with an interest in technology commercialization or nonproliferation may become associate members of USIC. Associate memberships are individual not institutional. Associate member services include:
- Bi-monthly e-newsletter and other USIC publications.
- Participation in the USIC Annual Meeting and other events.
- Information from USIC about funding opportunities from U.S. Government and other sources. If application is made for a program through USIC, upgrade to a Primary Membership will be necessary.
- Non-voting status at USIC annual meeting for USIC Board of Directors.
